[Itās Thursday, and everyone knows what that means. A party completely at odds with the reality of the situation, because chances are theyāll wake up to at least one person dead tomorrow. Weird and kind of fucked up heās okay enough with this to spend the afternoon baking cupcakes and cookies to bring with him to the Dodo cabana - both because he would like a little treat while the horrors persist, but also just in case Beelzebub is also staying in the cabana tonight.

Beel has a crate full of stuff that he's already brought in (more of the usual), but he nearly drops it on the floor when he sees fresh pastries laid out.]
Not that Haruka actually cares who eats what, considering he's already treated himself and everyone else has a better chance fighting off Beel to the food.]
It's not a big deal. Barely anything worth thanking.
[ Lacus has never actually spent the night in another cabana and with so many seagulls dead, the crowdedness takes a minute to get used to. Maybe it's a good thing she doesn't take up too much space, sticking politely and unobtrusively close to Nona. ]

[Oh this is slightly awkward. But the Dodos are all uses to laying all over one another by now, so hopefully the chill vibe can help the weird tension he feels when he looks in her direction.]

[ 'Safe' feels like a loaded word on a several levels. It makes Lacus remember what it feels like to be Beel, to fail to protect somebody, to choose one over another. It makes her remember what it feels like to be herself and watch Beelzebub's teeth dig into a precious friend.
It's been two weeks now. A lot has happened. The way Lacus felt last week isn't comparable to this week, even. It really is high time they talk.
And the smile she gives is faint but genuine. ]

Birthday parties can be all different - they're meant to make the person who's birthday it is happy, so they can be altered to their tastes. But with party hats, the cupcakes Haruka made and your friends here, you've already got a pretty classic one going!
A few of them did, when I was little! My father would invite all my friends over and set up a buffet in the garden for us. We'd then play games until sunset...
[ Which was not all that different from Lacus' usual hangouts with her friends. Look, she likes the garden. ]
At one of my more recent birthday parties, Kira and the children we take care of baked a cake together. Kira's mother offered to help, but they wanted to surprise me with something they'd made all on their own. It was a little misshapen, but absolutely delicious!
[ And then her last birthday was just kinda during wartime again and doesn't really count. That's how it is in life. ]
[ He feels at ease, tonight. There are people he's worried about who aren't here, but being in a room full of people he likes is good. Xiao brought some fruits for Beel to make sure he's got enough to snack on.
He's sitting on the floor -- not in the tub, this time!! Wow!! -- and keeps to himself, content to just hang back and let people mingle. ]
